The number on the sole is the last digit of the Brazilian size! So it's listed as BR 34 and the 4 is just the 4 instead of the full 34. This is info I got directly from CCF, I had the same question when I got my shoes since I'm a US Size 7, and it said 6 on the sole. I hope this helps! <3
