In Her Bones Hand of Comfort belt in black velvet. This is size 26", but can fit smaller or larger depending on how much slack you want hanging. For reference, at 26" there's about 15" of slack hanging. The total length of the belt including the clasp is 48".

It's a gorgeous belt and entirely handmade by Marissa of In Her Bones. The clasp is made of hand cast pewter and the belt is made of velvet. Since it's metal, the clasp does have a little heft to it. A nice, quality piece.

The belt is brand new. I just received it a couple of days ago directly from In Her Bones. I've never worn it, only took photos of it and tried it on my mannequin so that I could get measurements. It retails for $215 plus shipping and taxes (which comes out to around $242 for me, so you'll be saving a little by purchasing this way). Unfortunately, In Her Bones has discontinued this version of the belt, according to a recent social media post of hers.

Note: I have it listed new without tag, but it never came with a tag. Her products do not come with tags.

Hand of comfort. This piece, much like every other piece in this collection is heavily inspired by the Victorian era and their heavy mourning traditions and practices. So beautifully dictative and yet so stunning as a Spector from afar and later in time.

The Victorians obsession with dismembered hands comes up time and tome again in this still lingering from the past. From letter clips, to mourning jewelry, to even serve wear and candlesticks. Hands and their various meanings were seen all over the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

These hands were sculpted by me in clay then casted in fine pewter (lead free) then polished, blackened, and set to a luxe black velvet belt. Pewter was considered a fine metal in the 17th and 18th centuries and my research of the eras is what sparked a love and fascination with this metal.
